Drives Line Refurbishment: Integrated Drives / PLC / HMI network solution

Westbury Control Systems now provide services to the Steel Processing Industry. We have recently successfully designed, installed and commissioned a replacement control system for a steel slitting line to a manufacturing company in the West Midlands.

The works involved strip-out of existing cabling and replacement with a devicenet network and local node boxes with connections to machine solenoids / sensors etc.

Operator interface is actioned via a 15” HMI colour touch screen on the main console. PLC processing for control reporting and alarming is used with all equipment based on Rockwell Automation.

The integrated drives solution is based on line speed regulation and synchronisation thereby ensuing uncoiling, slitting and recoiling is carried out to strictest specifications of final product.

All project works planned were maintained for timescales of design implementation and acceptance as the whole onsite works had to be completed during a stringent shutdown of only six weeks.
